The Tengu Project
27 May 2025

Hey all!
I'm excited to announce that, after ten months of work,
my second book, The Tengu, Book B: Subjugation,
is ready for printing.
I eagerly anticipate the arrival of my galley proof
from marvelous Mixam Printers, after the approval of which
I'll likely order 25 printed copies and set up a print-on-demand option whereby you, dear reader, can order up your very own copy
from this website!

Featured below is page 7 of the 24-page all-color (in contrast to the Book A: The Prisoners black and white format).
Them Ducks got no idea what's headed their way!
In my hometown of San Francisco there's a music festival every summer on this stage in Sigmund Stern Grove, so I figured it'd make a good home for the Duck Clan, the artists and craftsfolk and performers of the Bird People world. It's also where, waaaay back in 1975, I fell in love with nature and my city's parks and natural spaces.

(To recap, I've set The Tengu in an Earth parallel to and contemporaneous with our own world. It's here, and it's now, but another here-and-now with neither birds nor people, just Bird People. And their Deities, the same as the Bird Deities we've venerated across the millennia: Horus, Thoth, the Phoenix, the Thunderbird, etc.
Twelve of them call the Bay Area home; one of their number has incarnated as the Tengu, who has the title of Steward of the Enclave (as the Bay Area is called in the story). He's responsible for keeping things in order and performing the occasional miracle during his eleven sisters' and brothers' century-long sleep. And some very nasty people here on Earth Prime want that world for themselves, and are willing to stop at nothing to acquire it. All they have to do is remove the Bird People!)

Cormorant Garamond is a classic font with a modern twist. It's easy to read on screens of every shape and size, and perfect for long blocks of text.
Here's how the Clans see what we call San Francisco,
and what they call The Enclave.
This map will change from episode to episode
as I add more Bird People to the scene!

Here are three (low-resolution) excerpt pages from the first of a planned thirteen-book graphic novel set in a parallel-universe San Francisco.
